Measured off the map

Worked out from the plot's own outline on DHA's map — nobody typed these in.

Narrower across the front than DHA's usual size for this plot, which the market discounts. What the plot types mean

Papers and possession

DHA's map says nothing about either of these. Possession comes from DHA's own possession notices where one has been issued for this plot; the rest comes from our own enquiry, and where we have not enquired yet, it says so.

What lifts this plot's price, and what pulls it down

Same block, same size, two plots — these are the things that make one cost more.

In its favour

  • 2 sides open, not just the front
  • Excess area — 185 sq ft more than the usual 8 Marla here (10.3% extra), and it is paid for at the same rate
  • Standard shape — squarish, no wasted corners
  • Park within a short walk

Against it

  • Front is only 16 ft against DHA's usual 30 ft for this size

Every side of this plot

Which way it faces

The front looks North (20°). So this is a north facing plot.

The sun comes over the front on an east-facing plot and over the back on a west-facing one — which decides where the shade falls and which rooms stay cool.

Qibla from this plot

The qibla lies at 261° (roughly west, a little south), which is 29° off this plot's walls.

The qibla cuts across the plot at close to a diagonal, so a prayer mat will not line up with any wall. Worth keeping in mind when the rooms are laid out.

The same direction matters for the washrooms. A Muslim does not sit facing the qibla or with the back to it, so the WC should be set across the qibla line rather than along it. Tell your architect the qibla bearing before the plan is drawn, not after the walls are up.
